How to use
AI Pocket Mechanic

1. Getting Started

Download AI Pocket Mechanic from the App Store or Google Play. When you open the app for the first time you can either sign in or jump straight into the tools.

Sign-in options

• Continue with Google — fastest and works on both iOS and Android.
• Continue with Apple — iOS only; uses your Apple ID securely.
• Email & password — create an account with your email address.
• Skip sign-in — try the tools first, sign in later to sync data across devices.

2. Home Dashboard

Your home tab gives you instant access to everything that matters. At the top you'll see Quick Actions, then your recent AI diagnoses, vehicles in your garage, and upcoming MOT reminders.

3. Your Garage

Your Garage holds every vehicle you own. Each one becomes the context for diagnoses, MOT checks, road-tax lookups and reminders.

Add a vehicle in seconds

1. Open the Garage tab and tap Add Vehicle.
2. Type your UK registration (e.g. AB12 CDE).
3. We pull make, model, fuel type, CO₂, MOT & tax status from DVLA automatically.
4. Confirm the details, add an optional photo, and save.

4. AI Diagnose

The Diagnose tab is the heart of the app. Describe what your car is doing, add photos, and our AI returns likely causes, troubleshooting steps and an indicative repair cost.

How to run a diagnosis

1. Confirm the Active vehicle shown at the top.
2. Describe the symptoms in plain English — when it happens, what it sounds like, smells like.
3. Tap Add Photo to attach images (warning lights, leaks, damage).
4. Tap Run Diagnosis and wait a few seconds.

5. Must-Have Tools

Tap the Tools tab to access every utility we've built for UK drivers. Most are free; a few use official government feeds.

6. Find a Mechanic

When a job is beyond DIY, tap Mechanics. We'll show verified UK garages near you with ratings, specialisms and a one-tap call or message button.

• Allow location access to sort by distance.
• Filter by speciality (electrical, MOT, EV, tyres, bodywork).
• Share your most recent AI diagnosis with the garage in one tap.
• Compare quotes and add the chosen booking to your calendar.

7. Service History & Reminders

Log every service, repair and oil change against each vehicle. The app turns those records into smart reminders so you never miss the next interval.

• Add a service: date, mileage, work done, parts and cost.
• Attach receipts or invoices as photos.
• Set custom reminders (e.g. oil change every 10,000 miles).
• Push notifications fire 7, 3 and 1 day before MOT or service due dates.

8. Accident / SOS

If you're involved in a collision, open Accident Report from the home screen. It walks you through:

1. Calling emergency services if needed.
2. Photographing damage, scene, registrations and witnesses.
3. Capturing the other driver's details and insurance.
4. Generating a tidy PDF report you can email to your insurer.

9. Premium & Pricing

Most features are free. Premium unlocks unlimited AI diagnoses, multi-vehicle households, priority fuel-data refresh and ad-free use.

10. Safety & Disclaimer

AI Pocket Mechanic provides diagnostic guidance only. It does not replace a qualified mechanic, manufacturer workshop manuals, or proper safety procedures.

• Do not drive a vehicle if a fault could affect braking, steering or engine safety.
• Use proper tools and PPE for any DIY checks.
• For high-risk findings, seek professional inspection.
• Live fuel data is sourced from official UK government feeds; minor lag or gaps may occur.
