Driving in Cardiff

Wales · Population 372,000 · 165,000 registered vehicles

Cardiff has no Clean Air Zone — the Welsh Government has so far preferred targeted bus-corridor improvements over per-vehicle charging. With around 165,000 registered vehicles and the M4 forming a hard northern boundary, Cardiff is relatively easy to drive in compared to comparable English cities. The two main challenges are the chronic M4 J32 (Coryton) congestion and the limited free parking inside the inner ring road. Welsh-language road signs are dual-language across the city — useful to remember when reading directions.
